Garden Harvest Farm

Located in the beautiful countryside of Baltimore county, Garden Harvest has been growing organic food since 1993. Structured as a non-profit, all staff are volunteers, and nothing that is grown on the property is ever sold for profit.

Our mission is to alleviate hunger and increase nutrition for people worldwide. We are currently raising sheep, laying hens, and goats. We typically have plants like tomatoes, cucumbers and squash in the ground over summer. We also partner with local restaurants to utilize day old goods scheduled to be thrown out, delivering them instead to churches, soup kitchens, shelters and emergency food pantries. Our ultimate goals are the annual donation of 1,000,000 lbs of organic produce; 10,000 eggs and even dozens of animals donated annually to either feed people or start new operations. Our eggs are truly cage free. We are currently working on a plan to make all our livestock regenerative as well. This means 100% grass fed and healing for the earth.

Of the 109 agencies served and surveyed by Garden Harvest, 85% have reported a dramatic increase over previous years in the number of people needing emergency food. Over half of them are children under 18. 45% of food providers admitted to turning away hungry people due to lack of food. Only 3% report getting fresh produce, and none have reported fresh eggs or meat. Demand is increasing while supply is diminishing!

We have history teaching stuff like:

At our peak, we had 5,000 volunteers come to the farm annually, and we were donating 400,000lbs of food annually! Being truly non-profit and volunteer driven, one of the greatest things you could do to help is volunteer your time. Planting, mulching, harvesting, weeding, cleaning, plus other organizational or special skill jobs are constantly of need. We even need help fundraising and finding grants! If you don’t have time, but still believe in what we are doing, you can make a monetary donation, either through our adopt a goat program or speak to someone about a direct donation. Have some equipment you no longer need? Donate it to us!
We are always in need of stuff.

In 2016, Garden Harvest lost one of the founders, Edie Dasher.
A mourning period took place and many of the workers and volunteers disbanded. But a new spark of life has found the land. As of 2023, we have begun production and are on our way towards our goals once again.
What this means is that we need help now more than ever. We need grants, donations, volunteers and people who care to simply spread the word of our mission.

With your help, we can really do something special for the hungry and homeless; not just in Maryland, but around the world. Garden Harvest just opened a chapter in Ghana, Africa! The world needs more.

As stated above, we are all volunteers. We get paid nothing to do what we do. We believe in the mission to feed the community good organic food. We would love to break new ground into freeze drying, refrigerated trailers and more!

We are all spiritual and work on ourselves daily; with good food and physical activity. We love being healthy, and we love sharing that with others. We are also quick with a good laugh, whether that be the bouncing lambs, Tank our “mascot” farm dog, or any one of our sharp wits, we are constantly smiling.

Thank you for reading and we hope to work with you some day!
